May 18 – When There Are Multiple Advisors at Bat “Who Do What You Do;” presented by Joe Strazzeri, Esq. and Matt Hansen
Business owners are often bombarded with product and strategy pitches – and they are open to more conversations when they are considering selling their business (or recently sold it). But they likely are not equipped with the “measuring stick” needed to make the best choices (of advisors and/or strategies) for their needs. So how do we as advisors help them think through their options and have them see us in a different light than the rest? Joe and Matt will share examples of succession planning cases where they embraced their quiet confidence, invited other advisors to the table, and retained the relationship. Gain practical techniques and a list of things to do when you are trying to either win the case, or collaborate on a case.

June 2023
June 1 – Intentionally Defective Trusts (IDGTs); presented by Steve Mancini, Esq.
Why would anyone want a ‘defective’ trust? The intentionally defective trust is a wealth-transferring device used by larger estates. It is an irrevocable trust that has been carefully drafted to cause the grantor to be taxed on trust income yet have trust assets excluded from the grantor’s estate. Such a trust can offer multiple planning opportunities and benefits, particularly when combined with both gifts and installment sales. Join Steve to understand how these IDGT’s are used, when they are appropriate, and when they are not.

June 15 – Reduce Costs and Increase Productivity: Benefits that Help Employees Manage Caregiving Responsibilities; presented by Lisa Rill, PhD
We all know the aging population and baby boomer generation is going to have a big impact on the workforce and intensify the need for succession planning. However, one thing your business owners may not have considered is the challenges many of their employees face with regards to aging and the need to care for their family members. This presentation will demonstrate the types of aging benefits employees need to be productive workers. Additionally, it will illustrate why investing in workplace wellbeing is a critical pathway to cultivating a sustainable workforce for your business/company.
- Learn how caregiving is taking a toll on corporate America.
- Understand who caregivers are (demographics), along with their responsibilities and needs for work-life integration.
- Discover how employers can help employees manage their caregiving responsibilities while reducing costs and increasing productivity and ROI (examples of different programs/policies from influential companies such as Facebook, Microsoft, Cigna, Bank of America, Starbucks, CBS).
June 22 – Trustee Training: Rights and Responsibilities; presented by Kate Langmore, Esq. and Danny Wexler, Esq.
A loved one has just passed away and now the successor trustee must serve as trustee of the living trust. Are they prepared to handle the myriad of questions regarding their rights and responsibilities, taxes, and investments in these different situations? Join Kate and Danny for an overview of the legal and procedural requirements of trust administration to assist trustees and their advisors to properly discharge their duties and avoid personal liability while preserving the important family relationships. The discussion is also the perfect opportunity to review the terms of your trust for this inevitability.
